  1. GUARANTEE AFFORDABLE PRICES

A CIRCULAR ECONOMY that precludes the possibility of inflationary price increases due to corporate gigantism or other de facto monopolistic control.

THE 5% RULE:  Any entity selling anything in the United States shall not control more than five percent (5%) of the U.S. market for whatever it sells. Any such existing entity shall be subdivided into new separate entities each of which shall control less than five percent. Any such subdivided entity that grows to again control five percent shall be subdivided again. Natural monopolies that cannot be feasibly subdivided shall be placed under strict control of an appropriate level of government.

THE COOPERATIVE CHOICE:  Any entity so subdivided shall choose by vote of all its employees of all ranks (one employee, one vote) whether to resume business as a Small Business Entrepreneur (SBE) or an Employee-Owned Co-op (EOC). Issuing stocks is prohibited; stock markets are abolished; speculating and other gambling manipulation of money to create profit while producing nothing is strictly outlawed.

Small Business Entrepreneurs shall be free to engage with the consumer market however they choose, shall be ineligible for any public subsidy whatsoever, and shall be negligibly regulated other than the absolute 5% Rule and nationwide uniform worker protection, fairness and equity laws.

Employee-Owned Co-ops shall be regulated to serve the public interest and public needs in each region of the United States. EOCs shall, by majority vote of all employees, make all major business decisions, conduct all business planning and implementation, elect all supervisors and managers, and conduct annual performance evaluations. Former stockholders shall be bought out over ten years. Profits shall be redefined as “surplus” to be reinvested in the co-op and to pay employee bonuses.
